Eye and hair colors

If you want to wear colors that will complement your natural coloring, you need first to take a look at the color of your eyes, hair and skin. Wearing the wrong colors tends to attract attention to the colors themselves and detract from your general aesthetic harmony. ‘Wrong’ colors also tend to emphasize skin blemishes, lines and wrinkles. Patchy WHITE skin and RED blotches are actually enhanced by the wrong colors and they can make a person look older. The whites of the eyes look dull and seem to loose their natural sparkle. The ‘wrong’ colors also give people a tired, drained and a messy appearance. The correct colors, on the other hand, will immediately reduce or minimize skin blemishes. The skin will look smoother, clearer, fresher and more alive. The eyes will sparkle, look bigger and seem brighter. The correct colors will enhance and bring out your own natural coloring, blending and harmonizing not only with your skin tone, but also with your eyes and hair. Warm colors make you feel warm, and cool colors cool. Warm colors will make you feel cheerful and happy, but when overused may make you nervous. Cool colours are quiet, restful colors, but if they are over-done may make you feel depressed.

Time

Colors look different in daylight and at night under artificial light. You are usually more attractive under artificial light than daylight. Artificial light softens bright colors, therefore you can wear much brighter colors at night than during the day.

Figure type

Colors affect your size. Warm colors make you look larger e.g. bright red would make you look larger than dull-red. White makes you larger than black. Lighter values are more noticeable than darker values. A stout girl, therefore, should avoid warm and intense colors because they attract attention to her figure. Warm and bright colors are advancing and make your figure more noticeable than dull colors. White or light colors help to hide rather than show off the unattractive lines in your figure. Figures, therefore, appear bigger in warm bnght colors, especially in red. Cool colors are receding and make you appear smaller and further away. Dark and dull colors like navy blue and black slenderize stout figure. A color may be becoming to your face and not to your figure. To solve this, wear a garment or a khamiz that is becoming to your figure and wear a color that is flattering to your face near it, e.g. in a dupatta, if you are wearing the Punjabi costume.
